The NAO Expedition Package combines our high quality restoration work with parts and equipment designed to enhance the off-road capabilities of the Series Land Rover.
BUMPER AND WINCH
A galvanized, heavy duty winch-bumper and Warn 8274 8000-lb winch are installed. The bumper is more than twice the thickness of the original bumper.
AXLES
The rear axle has a limited slip differential installed to provide improved traction in rocky or muddy terrain. The 10 spine rear half-shafts are replaced with heavy duty alloy steel 24 spline units. The front axle also has a limited slip differential installed. A galvanized steel differential guard is installed to protect the differential housing from impact with rocks.
TIRES AND WHEELS
The Land Rover is equipped with 7.50 16 BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain KO3 tires. The tires are mounted on early Defender tubeless steel wheels.
RECOVERY POINTS
Frame mounted recovery points are provide front and rear. A 2" receiver hitch is installed on the rear to accept a D-ring hitch receiver and military air-lift rings are installed on the front bumper to provide strong recovery points.
BODY PROTECTION
Galvanized rock sliders are installed to protect the body from rocks and other obstacles off-road. The rock sliders are boxed steel construction and mounted to the frame.
FUEL SYSTEM
A heavy duty galvanized steel skid plate is installed to protect the fuel tank from rock damage off-road.
CARGO TIE DOWN POINTS
Cargo lashing rings are installed in the load bay to safely secure cargo while traveling rough roads and trails.
RECOVERY KIT AND TOOLS
The Land Rover is equipped with a complete recovery kit, tool kit, and first aid kit. A High Lift jack is installed in the load bay for jacking up the vehicle off-road. A Hudson Bay axe and Carter Expedition Shovel are installed in the load bay as well.
BATTERY
An Odyssey Extreme absorbed-glass-mat battery is installed. This battery is much more vibration and heat resistant than a normal lead-acid battery.
BODY
The body panels are painted in NAO Expedition Tan. This paint has a matte finish which resists scratches better than high gloss paint. The muted tan color does not show mud and dirty as readily as other colors. This means that the Land Rover will continue to look presentable in an off-road setting.
